FEI Asian Championships 2023

VISION

Rethinking the Way We Do the Championships

Back in December 2017, the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) and Thailand Equestrian Federation (TEF) have aligned goals to create the inaugural Asian Continental Championships that is in line with the long-term sustainable growth of the sport in Asia region, with the ultimate goal of having Asian Championships competing under the same level as Olympic Games in the not too distant future.

MISSION

Bringing Back the Asian Talents and Embracing the Local Resources

HIGHEST LEVEL OF HORSES & RIDERS

Many horses & riders who competed in the FEI Asian Championships 2019 had previously represented their nations in the Olympic Games and World Equestrian Games, i.e. Japan, Hong Kong, and The Philippines. Half of the participants regularly competed in Asian Games and South East Asian Games. The key to success of the sustainable Asian Championships is to create the event that bring all the Super Stars and the young-and-rising Asian riders back to compete in Asia.

UPLIFT COMPETITION STANDARD

The level of equestrian competition in Games and Championships in Asia remain at the same level for over 20 years (Dressage Small Tour, Jumping 140cm, Eventing CCI 2*L). However, there are many riders from Asia Pacific who regularly participated in Olympic Games and WEG. To raise the bar and bring the standard higher, the FEI Asian Championships can be built up by gathering all Top Asian riders together. The more Top Asian riders participate, the faster the event grows into the new height, with High-level field of play, Top FEI Officials, Top-class Prize Money, Prestigious Sponsors, International Media, and World-wide Visitors.

BUILD UP LOCAL TALENTS

The key to the long-term development of the FEI Asian Championships is to build up our own talents and local resources. Since the event is created locally, it is expected to benefit local riders as well as technical officials, organisers and other stakeholders of the region to up-skill and experience the top-class events, while feel more at ease staying home.

WHY FEI ASIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS?

New Perspective.

Different Approach.

Sustainable Development.

The previous FEI Asian Championships in 2019 was a proof of success for the concept of home-soil Championships.  It was organised with all 3 Olympic disciplines and  regulated under the FEI Continental Championships.

The Asian Championships is set to be held every 2 years. Together with the Asian Games, Asian riders will have 3 high-level championships in every four-year period and will encourage continuity in their training and competitions.  This is expected to stimulate the sport and the industry in the region with increased number of events leading up to these Championships.
